In order to do the Yoga for the Mind Teacher Training you need to either have a 200Hr yoga teacher training from an accredited body or you must be certified as a therapist or healthcare practitioner.
You may still do the YFTM training whilst finishing your other training, but you cannot practice until you receive your other qualification.
You will be registered as a yoga therapist for mental health. Yoga for the Mind is a registered school with the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) and also registered with the Yoga Alliance. Currently, there is no international or national governing bodies for yoga therapy, although IAYT is working towards this goal. You will be recognized by both these institutions and be able to receive insurance as a yoga therapist. We are also working to understand how you qualification may be used under the NHS. This is a work in progress. During the training you will have a lecture specifically related to this topic.
You will be able to apply for insurance as a yoga therapist. YFTM is currently working with two different insurance companies to get you the best deal. Both are happy to insure graduates.
Arrangements can be made to make-up missed time for an extra fee. This must be arranged directly with Heather Mason.
YFTM does offer payment plans. We do not wish to prevent qualified individuals from doing the training based on the cost. Please contact us if you have serious financial considerations and we will do our best to help you.
We will be working from 9-6.30pm each day. Each day you will have practice time, lectures, and time to chat with your peers so the day will go by very fast.
Each student is required to write 3 essays, take one final exam, and have two private meetings with Heather Mason. Private meetings are arranged outside training days and last from 1.30-to 3hrs based on your personal needs. It is a time to really ask questions privately and clarify things you may have concerns about. If you are from out of town meetings will be arranged at times close to the training so that you will not need to travel any additional days.
You will need to do your own practice every day, keep a journal, and also see private mock clients (they may be friends or fellow students) and also you are required to teach each segment of the 8 week course to other a group or a friend or family member etc… We also encourage you to take part in yoga classes or mindfulness courses tailored for stress management.
In general the training will only focus on working with mental health. There will be a slight cross over at times, but this training will not prepare you to work with physical conditions.
